Artashes Sinanyan - PERCUSSION
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Mr. Sinanyan received his education at the Tchaikovsky Music School. After graduating, Artashes entered the State Conservatory of Music, majoring in percussive instruments. During those years he became a member of the Yerevan Percussion Ensemble and Vice President of Percussion Art Society/Armenian Chapter (headquarters in USA). In 1994 Mr. Sinanyan moved to Moscow, Russia to continue his education at the State Academy Maymonid where he became an honored student. He graduated from the Academy with Higher Educational Diploma. As a talented performer, Mr. Sinanyan became a member of the Moscow Percussion Ensemble, participating in numerous concerts and festivals in Russia as well as outside of Russia. From 1994-1998, as a musician-actor, Mr. Sinanyan collaborated with the V. Meyerhold Creative Center, which resulted in International engagements and tours to Switzerland, Finland, Russia, France, and Sweden. In 1998 Artashes moved to the United States. He founded the percussion department and choir chimes ensemble at the Lark Musical Society in Glendale. He was a director of the percussion department at the Kadima Conservatory of Music from 2001. Mr. Sinanyan established “ArtPerc Music Production”. The goal of this production is to present the unique arrangements of works by great composers. Each volume published by “ArtPerc” provides a music score, DVD of a performance of the work and on-screen text describing the historical significance of the work. Using an innovative and unique approach, Mr. Sinanyan designed a new arrangement of the percussive instruments called VIBRODRUMS (a vibraphone surrounded by many drums and cymbals). This practical arrangement of the instruments gives the effect of hearing two musicians playing at the same time, which is the result of the absolute independent coordination of only one player. This instrument also gives the performer an opportunity to explore a variety of genres. Mr. Sinanyan’s vibrant career fulfills his mission of performing, teaching and publishing his own music.
